Uttaranchal Medical College of Ayurveda and Research, Premnagar Dehradun celebrated Harela, the festival of greenery and prosperity, with great enthusiasm and a message of environmental conservation on 16th July 2025.
The program commenced with the inauguration of Navgraha Vatika by Shri Jitender Joshi, President Uttaranchal University. The program was graced by the esteemed presence of Ms Ankita Joshi, Vice President and Prof (Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna, Pro Vice Chancellor Uttaranchal University.
Dr. Deepak Prasad Raturi, Assistant Professor, Sanskrit performed the puja ceremony of Navagraha plants in Vatika. During the ceremony, he explained the significance of each plant and its association with nine planets (Navagrahas) in Vedic astrology.
Dr. Amit Bhatt, Director, UMCAR addressed the gathering and explained the cultural and ecological significance of Harela. He highlighted how the festival is not only a celebration of nature but also a reminder of our responsibility to protect and nurture the environment.

The event was attended by Prof. (Dr.) Sharad Pandey, Director, SOA, Dr. Vibhooti Chandrakar, Academic coordinator UMCAR, along with faculty members and staff of UMCAR and UHDC.
