Uttaranchal Medical College of Ayurveda and Research Celebrates 11th Ayurveda Day

Uttaranchal Medical College of Ayurveda and Research, Premnagar, Dehradun celebrated the 11th Ayurveda Day from 17th September to 23rd September 2026 with a series of awareness, healthcare, and student-oriented activities. The celebrations were organized around the theme “Ayurveda for Healthier Tomorrow,” highlighting the importance of Ayurveda in promoting healthy living, disease prevention, and holistic well-being.

The week-long celebration began on 17th September 2026 with a Patient Awareness Programme conducted by Dr. Jyoti M Ganer, Medical Superintendent, UHDC. The programme focused on common lifestyle-related disorders such as diabetes and hypertension, along with their prevention and management through healthy lifestyle practices and appropriate healthcare. Patients were educated about the importance of regular health check-ups, balanced diet, physical activity, and adopting healthy daily routines.

On 18th September 2026, a Free Health Check-up Camp was organized at Uttaranchal Hospital and Diagnostic Centre. The camp received an encouraging response from the community, with more than 50 patients registering and benefiting from the health services provided during the camp.

The celebrations continued on 21th September 2026, with a Reel Video-Making Competition for BAMS students. The students participated with great enthusiasm and creativity, using the digital platform to communicate the significance of Ayurveda and its relevance in modern life. The activity provided students with an opportunity to showcase their creativity while spreading awareness about Ayurveda.

On 22nd September 2026, a rally was organized by the BAMS students to create public awareness about Ayurveda and its role in maintaining health and preventing disease. The enthusiastic participation of the students added energy to the event and helped convey the message of Ayurveda to the wider community.

The week-long celebrations culminated on 23rd September 2026, marking Ayurveda Day, marking the spirit of Ayurveda through various vibrant classical performances, plays, speeches and an enlightening guest lecture by Dr. Y.S Malik, Advisor, Vishwa Ayurved Parishad Uttarakhand. The lecture provided students and faculty members with valuable insights into Ayurveda, its principles, and its relevance in contemporary healthcare.

The successful organization of Ayurveda week was made possible under the guidance of Dr. Amit Bhatt, Director, UMCAR, and Dr.Vibhooti Chandrakar, Principal UMCAR.
